Vericto is a fully remote company. We have no office and no mandatory in-person days, and we never use presence to measure anyone's commitment.
This policy describes how we work and what we guarantee you. If your day-to-day doesn't match what it says here, what it says here wins, and we want to hear about it.
Work from wherever you live best
- You can work from any country where we can legally hire you, either directly or through an employer of record. We confirm it with you before the offer, not after.
- You can move to another city or country. Give us some notice so we can review your contract, taxes, and coverage with you, and the move never leaves you unprotected.
- Your salary doesn't depend on where you live. We set it by role and level, with the same benchmark for the whole team, and moving to another city or country doesn't lower it.
- There are no mandatory office days. If we ever meet in person, it will be for a concrete reason, with the date announced well in advance, and no one is put at a disadvantage for not being able to travel.
Async by default
- We write before we meet. Decisions, context, and agreements are documented where the whole team can find them, so no one depends on having been on a call.
- Meetings are the exception: they have an agenda, a goal, and someone taking notes. They last 25 or 50 minutes to leave room between one and the next.
- A non-urgent message doesn't need an immediate reply. We expect an answer within the next business day, not within the next few minutes.
- When something really is urgent, like a customer incident, we say so explicitly and use the channel agreed for it.
Your hours are yours
- You shape your day around your life: family, studies, sports, or the time of day you focus best. With your team we only agree on a short block of shared hours for what truly needs to overlap.
- We measure results, not hours online. We don't use activity-monitoring software, screenshots, or "online" status as a measure of performance.
- We respect the working hours agreed in your contract. Working longer hours is not a sign of commitment, and it isn't rewarded.
Right to disconnect
- Outside your hours, on vacation, and on your days off, no one expects you to answer messages, emails, or calls. Not answering never counts against you.
- If you write to someone outside their hours, schedule the message or make clear it can wait.
- If your role includes on-call shifts for incidents, they are agreed in writing before you start, rotated across the team, and always followed by time to rest.
In Colombia, where Vericto is incorporated, this right is recognized by Law 2191 of 2022. We apply it to the whole team, wherever they live.
Physical health
- Your workspace matters. During onboarding we go through a guide with you for setting up an ergonomic space: chair, screen height, keyboard, and lighting.
- Breaks are part of the work. Get up, walk, get some daylight. That's why meetings leave room between one and the next.
- If you're sick, you rest. Working remotely doesn't mean working from bed.
- If an injury or a physical condition means you need to adjust your hours or your equipment, we talk about it and we adjust.
Mental health
- Mental health is health. You can take a day off for your mental health just as you would for any other illness, without having to give your team details.
- We work at a sustainable pace. If the workload doesn't fit in your day, the priorities change, not your time off.
- You have regular 1:1s with your lead, and your workload and how you're doing are part of the agenda, not a separate topic.
- No one has to be always available. We don't celebrate late nights or weekend work.
- If you're going through a hard time, you can say so with confidence. We'll work out with you how to adjust your work for as long as you need.
Rest and vacation
- Vacation is for resting: we ask you to take all of it and to disconnect. Before you leave, we make sure your work is covered so no one needs to reach you.
- We plan work assuming everyone takes their vacation. If the team can't function without one person, that's the team's problem, not that person's.
Family
- When a child arrives, by birth or adoption, you get paid parental leave longer than your country's law requires. It applies equally to every parent.
Learning and growth
- Learning counts as work: you can spend part of your working hours on whatever helps you grow in your role.
- We support you with courses, books, certifications, and conferences related to your work, and we choose them with you based on what you want to develop.
Remote is not isolated
- In your first month you get a documented onboarding and a go-to person for any question, however small.
- We have spaces to talk about things other than work, and they're optional.
- Important conversations, like feedback, a role change, or a problem, happen over a private video call, not over chat.
Security at home
We build a security product, so we also take care in how we work:
- An encrypted disk, automatic screen lock, and two-step verification on every work account.
- If you work from a café or a coworking space, use a trusted network and never leave your computer unlocked.
- If you lose a device or suspect an account has been compromised, tell security@vericto.com right away. Reporting it is never penalized.
How we keep this policy
- We review it with the team at least once a year. If something doesn't work in practice, anyone can propose a change.
- If you have questions about how we work before applying, write to us.
